Yes, our balustrade kits are custom-cut to your specified dimensions, eliminating the need for you to perform any cutting during installation. Our Framed Glass Kit and Frameless Glass Kit are tailored to meet your requirements while adhering to building regulations for domestic use. Please note that our Wire Kit does not comply with building regulations.

Balustrade load bearing requirements are governed by BS 6180:2011, which mandates that any instantaneous deflection should not exceed 25mm. Our StairFurb Alfresco’s Framed Glass Kit and Frameless Glass Kit meet these requirements. However, it’s crucial to seek advice from a structural engineer, especially for installations on concrete, as the structural performance may vary.

Balustrades protecting fall heights exceeding 600mm require either a handrail or laminated glass. Our Framed Glass Kit incorporates a handrail to comply with regulations, while our Frameless Kit uses 17.5mm toughened, laminated glass, meeting requirements without a handrail.

After placing an order, you will need to sign off your order. You will be sent a link to your own personal order management page. On the order management page you will see the contents of your order and the dimensions. You should check the dimensions are correct, input any missing dimensions and, once you are happy that all dimensions are correct, you should click the green button at the bottom of the order management page to sign off your order. Once an order is signed off, StairFurb then creates the production sheets and starts production of the order. You will receive an email update when their order goes into production.

Balustrade height, measured from finished floor level, should be 1100mm for external applications in private residential buildings.

If  you want to change a dimension on an existing order then:

• if you have not yet signed off your order, you should go into your order management page and edit the dimension before you sign off your order. Any additional payment or refund required due to the change will be resolved in the order management page.

• if you have already signed off your order, it may be too late to make a change if the order is already in production. You should email office@stairfurb.co.uk to ask if it is still possible to make the change.

For domestic applications, our Framed Glass Kit utilizes 10mm toughened glass, while our Frameless Glass Kit employs 17.5mm toughened, laminated glass to ensure compliance with regulations.

If you have had delivery and feel that the dimensions are incorrect, please try to get some photographic evidence and send that, along with a description, and your order number, to office@stairfurb.co.

We ensure all gaps between glass panels meet the safety requirements, ensuring a sphere of 100mm cannot pass through accessible areas or those frequented by children.

Each glass panel is sized ideally within 1.1m wide or high to meet the testing requirements and for ease of installation.

Most of our balustrade systems undergo the required line load testing, and we can furnish you with a test certificate upon request. Our Wire Kit is not tested due to its potential as a climbing hazard for children.

Our Alfresco range exclusively features 316 grade stainless steel, recommended for exterior use due to its corrosion resistance. Regular cleaning with a recommended cleaner will help to prevent discoloration or pitting.
