EMBEDDED GLASS KIT

EMBEDDED KIT INTRO

Bespoke glass balustrade panels are inset seamlessly into the sleek, solid oak base and handrail, increasing the amount of natural light that flows through your home. The embedded glass balustrades are elegant with clean lines which are uninterrupted by brackets or clamps. Torque screws are inset inside the handrail using a pre-drilled pocket hole, ensuring the most secure and sleek finished handrails.

StairFurb supply the embedded balustrade kits with the baserails pre-cut to the exact length and angle, with holes pre-drilled and screws supplied. The glass is all bespoke made to your required dimensions and the handrail is pre-cut the the length and angle as well as having the pocket hole pre-drilled in the ends of the handrail for fixing to the newel post with the supplied torque screws. In short, the kit is provided ready to DIY install.

Slide handrail icon HANDRAILS The embedded glass systems come with a solid oak or pine handrail. The oak used is Untreated American Oak. The handrails are 56mm wide and 60mm deep, with a channel running up the centre of the handrail for the glass to be inset into.

Stairfurb untreated oak is a natural product and will require treatment prior to installation, including sanding and coating with a suitable wood finish product. The pine is also supplied unpainted and untreated.
All long Oak and Pine handrails will be bent to lesser or greater extends, you’ll very rarely get a fully flat, straight one when free-standing. We can only guarantee fit for purpose, not straight. If they can push down to the floor with minimum force then that will be deemed as fit for purpose as brackets will pull them straight. It’s only where there is a severe kink that they may be rejected as not being fit for purpose.

Slide glass icon GLASS Our StairFurb glass is all bespoke cut and specifically designed for internal use. All our glass is:

8mm thick
Toughened

The longest any one panel can be is 1100mm, due to building regulations. We allow 15mm horizontal space between newel post or wall and the glass and between each panel of glass.
Each panel is subtly laser etched on one edge with Kite Mark to BSEN12150, to prove that it is made to building regulation requirements.

Slide HANDRAIL FIXINGS Our embedded handrails are connected with torque screws that are fixed through pre-drilled pocket holes in the side of the handrail to ensure the most secure fit and also the most aesthetic finished look. When you order an Embedded Glass Balustrade Kit from StairFurb, the handrails are prepared ready to install. The holes are pre-drilled in the handrails, so you don’t need to do that on site. Festool mitre joints are made for landing handrails which turn 90 degrees.
